Monks Park open day
More than 50 architects, specifiers and stonemasons attended an open day at Bath and Portland Stone’s Monks Park underground quarry near Corsham in Wiltshire.
The quarry was reopened earlier this year after being dormant since 2004.
Visitors were given tours of the underground workings, including demonstrations of block cutting with Fantini electro-hydraulic saws, and viewed displays of both raw blocks and finished masonry from the company’s works at Keynsham near Bristol.
The day was hosted by general manager Richard Wilcock, mine manager Gary Sales and project manager Gary Sellick.
“Feedback was very positive and we have had a number of follow-up enquiries,” said Richard. “I would like to thank everyone who helped to make the day such a success.”
